Watery abstract of the Mississippi River, Almonte, Ontario
People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking.
I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances with our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.
Joseph Campbell
I’m trying to be more alive and in the moment lately. As you grow and age…you realize that now is all you are promised..love that painterly reflection…
I seem to have gotten behind on my blog post…not good.
such beautiful words to accompany the dancing coloured lighted reflection
Such a painterly image, Sherry, that draws me in and makes me stop and breathe. And to ‘feel the rapture of being alive’ — which to me means making room in my heart for everything in my experience, from the beautiful reflections to the unknown watery depths. As always, thank you.
Joseph Campbell’s words resonate with me. And this image…I absolutely love it.
Yesterday I sat in my sunroom and for over two hours I looked at your blog back to 2012. I was totally mesmerized at the pictures I saw. You certainly are following in Dad’s footsteps. I love how you use photoshop, etc to enhance your photos. I just have a point and shoot camera but still can get pictures I’m somewhat happy with. Lorna
There is nothing like…feeling a deep abiding love of being alive.
First of all, I absolutely adore that image of the reflective water. And what a perfect image for this quote. Campbell is so right and that’s how I have felt, particularly in recent years. A search for the meaning of life really isn’t what most of us are after, or (I feel) should be. It’s about the experiences. Kind of goes along with my thoughts of revelling in our numbered days on this earth. Thanks for a beautiful stopover — the image is superb and the quote an honest reflection.
Beautiful and I completely agree.
LOVE. THIS. QUOTE!
