Little suggests “forward” to me as much as going through the lift bridges in a sailboat on the Intracoastal Waterway in Florida!
This short video captures the experience better than words can. Come along with us for a minute or two…

Excellent choice for the challenge!
How wonderful to see this (and the sun, and the palm trees…) – it’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
You’re living a fun life! I never minded being in a car when a bridge was raised to let the boats go through. I thought it was cool.
I’m so glad you found a way, Sandra. And I’m honoured to be on your blog roll! I should do some more videos — they add more immediacy to images, don’t they?
The people in the cars waiting aren’t usually that thrilled to wait for the sailboats to go through though…;-)
Just come visit next year and we’ll take you through, Viv! 😉
We’ve probably done close to 100 of these now and they’re always thrilling!
Thanks, Gracie. It was fun to capture on video!
And there are ONLY 19 of these between Miami and Fort Lauderdale! 😉 Most with a lot more boat traffic and some with strong currents!
How exciting to go for a ride on your boat and ask for the bridge to be lifted for your passage! I like your POV taken from the boat of the opening bridge!
I found a way to see when you put up new postings by putting you on my blog roll ( copied and pasted your URL onto my blogger dashboard), so you don’t need to answer my question concerning this in my last comment! All is well!
Must be exciting seeing the traffic stopped and the bridge going up — just for you! VIP treatment. 🙂
Amazing I want to be there…
Sherry, that was awesome!
I bet that was thrilling – fun to see it in action..
Hugs
That was fun!
