A look back at 2014, Part 2

I will remember 2014 as the year I embraced monochrome photography. Much as I love colour, I have become totally enchanted with black and white pictures.

Light, lines and moments —  I found myself shooting those a lot this year, consciously and unconsciously — and black and white is ideal for bringing out the best of those kinds of images.

I have also started studying some of the masters recently, and was lucky enough to receive a signed print by famous Magnum photographer, Elliott Erwitt, which now hangs proudly on my wall, and which I will cherish forever.

I joined a few groups that share black and white photography and have been so inspired by the work posted there.

I have a feeling 2015 will also be a black and white kind of year!

  1. Wow! I think I’ve commented before how much I love your New York photos- they are amazing! Seriously masterful! I have always loved black and white- I used to pore over Life Magazine as a child, and this year I gifted the family with photo books of the grand-boys all in black and white. I am going to look up Elliott Erwitt- I want to learn more- and you are an inspiration! I love today’s collection- as I said, MASTERFUL! (I think there are too many exclamation marks in this comment- but that’s how I feel about your work!!!)

  2. Oh my Sherry…when you get serious, you get serious and you have produce such stunning photo’s here..I love them all…and can I say…that I am so proud to have one of your stunning photo’s from your Christmas Card…I will be framing that and hanging it and some day I will say…”I knew her way back when she first started her black and white work.” Can’t wait to see what you do in 2015…happiness to you always my friend.
